Eric Hoste is Full Professor in Medicine and Chief of Clinic in the Intensive Care Unit, Ghent University Hospital, Belgium, as well as being a Senior Clinical Investigator of the Research Foundation-Flanders (FWO). He is the current chair and former deputy of the Acute Kidney Injury Section of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), associate editor of Journal of Critical Care, and former president of the Belgian Society of Intensive Care Medicine.
