TIPE2 is expressed in many tissues, both immune and non-immune, and is thought to play a key role in maintaining immune homeostasis. In this review, researchers describe the structural characteristics, expression patterns and functional roles of TIPE proteins, with a particular focus on the role and underlying mechanisms of TIPE2 in immune regulation and its involvement in various diseases. For example, TIPE2 has been shown to play a central role in the regulation of inflammation and tumor development. But many grey areas remain to be clarified in order to elucidate the mechanisms and possible functions of TIPE2.
