2nd Edition of the National Day Against Cancer in Older Adults: Stay Tuned!

Cancer is increasingly affecting older people: more than 50% of colorectal cancers, one third of breast cancers, and over 70% of prostate cancers occur in individuals aged over 70. Yet these patients are still too often excluded from prevention and screening programs, and their symptoms are sometimes diagnosed late or underestimated. In response to this situation, the French-Speaking Society of Onco-Geriatrics (SOFOG) is leading a strong initiative: to establish a national annual event aimed at raising awareness, mobilizing stakeholders, and ensuring that medical progress remains a right at every age. The highlight of this first edition will be a major national conference at the Palais du Luxembourg on October 9, 2026, bringing together experts, institutions, associations, patients, and caregivers to address key issues: cancer & aging, early detection, access to innovation, trust, and the patient–caregiver relationship.
